New Crop Prunes 2020
This season we have seen ideal growing conditions in France. A mild winter followed by sufficient rainfall in spring and a hot dry Summer has paved the way for a good quantity and quality crop.
The 2020 harvest has started earlier than it has historically, leading to it almost being complete. Crop predictions have been reviewed to a lower level since the rain damage that occurred during the harvesting, total damage is predicted at 20% which is a direct loss to the farmers. The expected volume following harvest is now between 32,000 – 35,000 MT, we are likely to see a firm figure in the next couple of weeks, along with new crop prices.
The South African crop is likely to be limited smaller grades however more availability of the larger more premium sizes. California are also expecting a smaller crop in regard to volume this is likely to cause tension on current market prices.
