Brief Pumpkinseed Market Update – March 2022
Post New Year domestic supply in China remains low, and as usual isn’t expected to recover until June. For now, we can say that the price remains stable. Distributors are expected to be holding around 50,000 MT of stock, waiting for prices to increase. The current market value of their stock is far less than what it would have been purchased for when new crop was released. In the next few months, we will see 2022/23 crop season commence – This may well have an effect on pricing based on predicted yields. Some farmers have switched over to cotton growing or growing other produce, as they could see a greater profit from switching. This decrease in supply is expected to have a large effect on pricing when lower supply is realised in crop yield by the market.
