Brazil Nut Market Update January 2022
We have seen a large amount of competition for early materials, and so this has influenced the anticipated new crop price. The 12/12month gestation period means that the market must tread cautiously when predicting new crop yield given the heavy rains seen in jungle areas. At present, heavy rains haven’t been causing large scale flooding and restrictions of movement. This may have an affect further on in the year as we see new crop come into the market and be offered, as the crop yield may well be affected still by this.
The international market generally remains unchanged, with a heavy premium on prices being offered by growers. At present, it is safe to say that the Brazilnut market is quiet, and we are unable to safely predict price movements until closer to the new crop harvest. When we start to see larger volumes confirmed at pricing of new crop, we will then be able to give some form of prediction of the price movement.
