We are committed to consistently improving our policies to ensure that we source our raw products in an ethical way. We regularly review and assess our suppliers and third-party companies to reduce the risk of modern slavery. Due to the various countries involved and the complexity of some of the supply chains, Chelmer Foods Ltd understand there is an inherent risk of modern slavery. We aim to ensure that the risks of modern slavery are monitored and justified through our supplier approval, supply chain and due diligence practices.
Multiple assessments form part of the rigorous supplier approval process, which our technical department controls. These include, for example, supplier audits/questionnaires, SEDEX membership status, SMETA and other ethical audits. We can view the statistical data and share the ethical data with customers to view and run the audit reports.
Our suppliers are required to map their supply chain so that we have full transparency of the steps that the product goes through before reaching ourselves. For areas that are considered to be at higher risk of not complying, we carry out additional checks. This includes FLA/Harvesting the Future to further monitor and challenge the supplier's overall control.
Maintaining good relationships with all our suppliers and communicating consistently regarding these issues is essential.
