Turkish Vine Fruit Market Update 05.11.24

It's understood across the board that the vine fruit crop size is smaller than in previous years, and farmers are reluctant to bring their produce to market despite the current high prices. In the chart below, you can see the export figures of Türkiye. Comparing the 2024 crop figures with the average figures of the previous 6 years, we can see that in the first 9 weeks of the season, they exported an average of almost 19,500 tons less than the last 6 years. This means that there has been a weekly basis export volume of 1700 tons less than usual quantities.

It's obvious that in the 2024 crop season, Türkiye will export a much smaller quantity compared to previous seasons. The question is how much exports will decrease which could really affect market prices. Experts calculated the prediction that the whole season's export quantity will be at around 160,000 tons. The value of the vine fruit exports from Türkiye varied between $525,000 and $492,000 for the last 6 years. Even though this season has a lot less volume, the prices are much higher. This means that the total value surrounding the 2024 crop is estimated to be $550,000.
