Desiccated Coconut Market Update 30.09.24
Over the past few months, the market for DC (desiccated coconut) has been gradually but consistently growing across all origins. Indonesian and Philippine DC producers face strong competition from the coconut oil sector, which has led to significant shipment delays. Indonesian producers in particular are struggling, with many factories at less than 60% capacity.
The Philippines, however, have performed particularly well, with very few offers available for 2024 shipments. Adding to the uncertainty, the country is currently in the midst of its typhoon season, which could further impact supply.
At present, there are no indications that prices will drop in the next 4 to 6 months. In fact, prices are expected to rise, though the coconut oil market may play a key role in determining the extent of this increase.
