Almonds
As of September 30, 2023, the Almond Board of California documented receipts of 625.4 million pounds (approximately 283,700 metric tons) in kernel weight. The total shipments for the 2022/23 year mark the third-highest in history, reaching 2.565 billion pounds (around 1.163 million metric tons).
Walnuts
The initial Chinese crop estimate of 1.45 million metric tons (in-shell basis) was adjusted down to 1.35 million metric tons, due to the widespread impact of frost in the primary producing regions. Additionally, the USDA has reduced the 2023/24 Californian crop estimate to 760,000 short tons (689,460 metric tons) following a revision of producing acres to 375,000 (approximately 151,800 hectares).
Raisins, Sultanas and Currants
The 2023/24 Turkish dried grape production, revised by the Aegean Exporters' Association, is now reported at 206,300 metric tons, a 36% decrease from 2022/23, mainly attributed to the impact of heavy rainfalls during the harvest period. Conversely, China anticipates an 11% increase in production in 2023 compared to the previous year, with both Chinese Sultanas and green raisins exhibiting excellent quality due to favourable cool weather conditions.
