TREE NUTS MARKET REPORT - BRAZIL NUT

The already reported standoff over prices between processors and collectors has led to a very late start of the new rainforest region campaign. Due to missing raw material, all roots are currently unable to ship and several processors have yet to open their facilities for the new season. Any old raw material has already been processed and exported.

The shortage in Europe of larger Brazilian nuts is acute and felt at the same time by many. There are rarely available stocks that sell at a large premium. As a result, prices in countries of origin have been increased by processors to levels not seen in a year and, with optimism and continued shortages, these levels are likely to continue to grow in the coming months.

Aside from supply chain problems, business processes in South America are still affected by the pandemic and the production ability of many companies in the region is reduced. Irregular lockdowns keep many enterprises with a justifiable sense of reliability from planning ahead.
